Here I'll be posting photos, and the comments on the re-construction of my 1968 Mustang convertible. This weekend (6-16-07) I start to pull the motor. This needs to be done in order to better work around the problems of installing the first major piece of sheet metal. The floor! Since this will give back a major portion to the strength of the vehicle a lot of welding needs to be done, and an oily motor in the way is a sure bet for a fire to start.

Weekend: 6-16-07, The Exhaust system was pulled to get the transmission out. The disappointment was that the front of the left manifold was cracked, and a previous installation of the exhaust system entailed that over size studs were installed, making it impossible to get a wrench around the nuts that hold the header pipe on. The manifolds needed to be removed at the same time as the header pipe. Removing the C4 Transmission was the usual take down. Prepping the engine for removal made me aware of a lot of idiot repairs done in the past. Electricians wire nuts were used to hold the wiring together, bailing wire was used to hold the throttle linkage on, and a j-bolt was used in place of a regular bolt for the motor mount. During this car's past life a lot of short-cut repairs were made and never made correct later on. I spent most of the weekend helping out with hub and u-joint replacement on some ones jeep, so I didn't give my full attention to getting the motor out. I've assembled the engine hoist, and need to pull the motor mounts and the motor should be out this week.

Bees nest have infected the whole car! I suppose that just adds to the excitement.

This weekend 6/23/07 I found ten bees nest as I was taking the body parts off. Front fenders, hood, trunk lid fuel tank, dash pad, windshield have all come out now. I can see the areas that really need work. Lots to weld. In the mean while I'll be sanding down those areas that I can.
